The following districts currently have the capability to access Internet2 opportunities:

Title:  Virtual Global Summit

 

Purpose:  Students and teachers from participating classes will develop a classroom project which addresses issues that are important to both them and the broader world.  Project ideas include but are not limited to:

v      Music Around the World

v      Finding Truth in Media

v      Cost/Benefit of Energy Source Development

v      One Earth – Yours, Mine, Ours?

v      Immigration – How Do We “Solve” the Problem? Lessons in Cultural Understanding

 

Students will use Internet2/NYSERNet resources and other appropriate resources and technologies to research important issues facing today’s students in the global community as well as to connect with experts from around the world.  The culmination of this experience will be a statewide interactive Global Summit presentation, using Internet2, on March 23, 2011.   All work will align to 21st Century student standards as defined by ISTE.

Grade: recommended 6-12

Cost: None to districts listed above.

 

How to get involved:

District administrators and interested teachers are invited to join the Suffolk RIC and the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Model Schools Program at an overview meeting.  Please register at http://webreg.esboces.org.
