Congressman Bishop Announces $3.2 Million for Bridges to Literacy Program
New York State Congressman Tim Bishop has announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $3.2 million grant to Eastern Suffolk BOCES. The grant aims to transform preschool classrooms into “centers of excellence” in four school districts and Long Island Head Start programs served by the Long Island Regional School Support Center. The grant is part of a national effort to transform preschools by raising the quality of the programs and by helping staff in the programs to more effectively meet the diverse needs of preschool-aged children, including children with limited English proficiency, disabilities, or other special needs.”
