The Regional Transportation Office performs several functions as a transportation service provider and as a resource center for safe and efficient school bus transportation.
Transportation Service Provider:
Eastern Suffolk BOCES is equipped to meet the needs of the numerous districts it services by providing safe, efficient, and economical transportation. The cost of the transportation is prorated between the districts that are sharing the cost of the service. Eastern Suffolk BOCES has a professional, accommodating staff to intervene and resolve all transportation issues/problems.
The majority of students utilizing Eastern Suffolk BOCES transportation service have Special Needs; such as vehicles equipped with wheelchair and oxygen tie downs, air conditioning, driver assistants, safety vests, car seats and gurneys.
Career and Technical Training is a cooperative effort between local high schools and Eastern Suffolk BOCES facilities. For the most part, these vehicles shuttle between facilities.
Coach and Field Trip service is one of Eastern Suffolk BOCES most popular programs. The districts fax their field trip information and Eastern Suffolk BOCES arranges the transportation.
Eastern Suffolk BOCES also provides transportation for the Summer Gifted and Talented program, which transports students from their home or neighboring high schools to the program site.
Summer School transportation is available to transport students to neighboring district summer school programs.
Nonpublic students who share the bus, significantly reduce the cost of transportation and late bus service to their home districts.
Eastern Suffolk BOCES drivers and driver assistants are specifically trained to manage the needs of Special Education students.

Transportation Resource Center:
Eastern Suffolk BOCES offers many services, designed to improve safety
awareness and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies such as the NY
State Education Department, NY State Department of Motor Vehicles and
the NY State Bus Driver Certification Unit (BDCU). Additionally, defensive
driver and behavior management courses are offered for drivers and driver
assistants. Also available are other transportation services that support
operations and training such as drug and alcohol testing, driver and monitor/
attendant physicals, driver abstract provision, point insurance reduction
and full 19A and SED file audits.

Transportation-Related Services:
Eastern Suffolk BOCES offers services related to transportation. Shared
transportation is the provision of a transportation professional to manage
the district's transportation operation. Automated Routing is computerized
routing with on-site support and unlimited training during the contracted
period. Other services offered by Eastern Suffolk BOCES are transportation
impact studies, route efficiency reviews, enrollment projections, re-districting
and child safety zones.
