Strategic Plan Meeting Held

Plans for the 2012-2013 school year were discussed, as per guidelines from the Strategic Planning Committee.


The Eastern Suffolk BOCES Strategic Planning Meeting for the 2012-2013 school year was held August 8, 2012 at the Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center, Riverhead, NY. The opening address was given by Chief Operating Officer Gary Bixhorn. Dean Lucera was introduced as the new Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer. This 13th annual meeting drew 100 participants including component district superintendents.

Breakout sessions included discussions on approved 2009-2016 Strategic Action Plans and attendees provided input on related operational plans. Administrative Council members and delegates in charge of action plans summarized major actions proposed for the new school year within their areas of expertise. Discussions included available resources/opportunities to be utilized and challenges in the internal/external environment to proposed action plans.

The 3 1/2 hour meeting concluded with each of eight discussion groups reporting and Mr. Bixhorn’s closing remarks.
