Suffolk PTA Scholarship Recipient Announced

Posted on March 20, 2012

MTC student wins Suffolk Region PTA scholarhip to use for her future career plans.

The announcement that Devynn Danziger is the recipient of the Suffolk Region 2012 PTA Scholarship did not surprise those who know her. She’s an Honor Roll senior in Patchogue-Medford UFSD where she plays junior varsity soccer; a student in Jonathan Audiino’s Certified Personal Trainer class at Milliken Technical Center (MTC); a member of Habitat for Humanity; a participant in Teens for Jeans; plays the trumpet; and is an employee at Family Melody Center.

Devynn is on her way to becoming a personal trainer for a sports team. In her ESBOCES classes, she is learning to design weight-training and nutritional programs and is honing her skills to earn certification as a National Personal Trainer. “One of the best things I’ve done is register at ESBOCES,” she said recently. “I love the course and I’m learning the structure and function of humans; it’s biomechanics.”

After graduation, she will attend Suffolk County Community College for its paramedic program. As a college freshman, she also will take a second year with Mr. Audiino’s class where she will continue her studies of anatomy, kinesiology, injury prevention, and all aspects of weight and strength training. Later, she hopes to attend SUNY Cortland.

When she applied for the Suffolk Region PTA 2012 Scholarship application, Devynn needed to submit a 200-word essay. “That was probably the easiest paper I’ve ever written,” she declared, “because I love BOCES.” The essay topic was: How has the BOCES educational experience helped to prepare you for your future career goals?

Devynn received her scholarship at the 2012 PTA Dinner this month with Mr. Audiino and MTC Principal Tom McGrath in attendance.
