Local Students Win Scholarships for Innovative Anti-Bullying Projects

Eastern Suffolk BOCES congratulates students from the Comsewogue UFSD, who under the direction of ESBOCES SAS Counselor Joe Pifko and Comsewogue HS Guidance Counselor Clarissa Porello captured a high achievement at a youth summit.
On Friday, March 9, 2012, the SUSS (Students United for Safe Schools) team from Comsewogue UFSD presented at the Long Island Youth Summit held at Dowling College in Oakdale.
The team was awarded the highest level of achievement for the most innovative project of any school on Long Island. Each of the students received a $5,500 scholarship.
Advisors for the project - Eastern Suffolk BOCES Student Assistance Service Counselor Joe Pifko, and Comsewogue UFSD High School Guidance Counselor Clarissa Porello - worked with the students over the course of the school year to develop their award winning anti-bullying projects.
