School Job Fair Opens Avenues of Employment
Posted on March 28, 2012
MTC Job Fair provides various opportunities and experience for students.
A job fair held at the Milliken Technical Center (MTC) in Oakdale recently, provided Career and Technical Education students with lessons on exploring potential job availability, completing resumes, and speaking with employers.
Among the employers attending the fair were the Civil Service agency, Customs and Border Patrol, Suffolk County Government, St. Joseph’s College, Youth Enrichment Services (YES), Home Depot, Tri-County Home Nursing Services, and Manufacturing Technology of Suffolk. According to MTC Assistant Principal Donna Singer, the staff assisted students with completing job applications and accessing websites to learn more about the companies that are hiring.
Four hundred students attended the Job Fair, reported Principal Tom McGrath. The Culinary Arts classes at MTC and the Islip Career Center (ICC) provided breakfast and lunch for the businesses that participated.
Students fill out job applications (below) and meet with employers with assistance from the MTC staff.
