ESBOCES Students Capture First Place at GNYADA

ESBOCES is pleased to announce that two students from the Mattituck-Cutchogue UFSD enrolled at H.B. Ward Career and Technical Center captured First Place in the GNYADA Competition.


Kevin Herrera and Michael Rutoski, both from the Mattituck-Cutchogue UFS and first place winners in the 2012 GNYADA Competition, pose with their ESBOCES Auto Technology teacher Mr. Michael O’Hara. The two students will move on to the national finals at the Javits Center in NYC in April.

Eastern Suffolk BOCES is proud to announce that Kevin Herrera and Michael Rutoski, both from the Mattituck-Cutchogue UFSD, won first place at the Greater New York Automobile Dealership Association (GNYADA) state finals.

Kevin and Michael are enrolled in the Auto Technology program at the ESBOCES H.B. Ward Career and Technical Center located in Riverhead, NY.

They now move on to the national finals at the Javits Center in NYC on April 10 and 11 where they will compete against the top teams from around the United States and Canada.

Eastern Suffolk BOCES Auto Technology teacher Mr. Michael O’Hara said, “Because they won the state competition, Eastern Suffolk BOCES receives a 2005 Mazda Infinity. I'm very proud of these young men - they worked very hard to win this competition. Now it's on to the national final.”

Eastern Suffolk BOCES students have finished second in the state finals several times before; this will be the first trip to the national finals.
