Student Art Judged at Media Arts Show

Posted on June 25, 2012

Students dedicated to the arts participate in the Long Island Media Arts Show with some hoping to be selected for the New York State Summer School for the Arts.

This year’s Long Island Media Arts Show, with 600 students from 35 school districts participating, was described by adjudicators as “inspirational.” According to Eastern Suffolk BOCES Arts-in-Education Coordinator Carol Brown, students experienced exhibiting their work “in this type of venue and also learned the scope and breadth of what is being accomplished in other districts.” The 21st annual event was held at Five Towns College for educators, administrators, and the most dedicated high school Media Arts students.

In partnership with East Islip’s Music and Fine Arts Department, ESBOCES Arts-in-Education conducted a series of workshops on Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts (ELA) and Literacy for district music and art teachers and directors.
